To prepare for this Discussion, select an organization with which you are familiar (or about which there is adequate public information available) and do some research/information gathering on the organization’s supply chain, including areas of strength, weakness, opportunities, and threats.

By Day 3

Post an analysis of the supply chain for your selected organization in order to identify structural and/or process improvements and create efficiencies. In your analysis, do the following:

Describe the organization’s current supply chain. List the key components and include the key stakeholders, vendors, technologies, and—if applicable—modes of transportation involved.

Based on your research of the organization’s supply chain and your assessment of its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, explain how you might redesign the company’s supply chain for maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Focus specifically on improvements in structure, process, etc. Outline the key inputs and outputs of your redesigned supply chain and distinguish the suppliers that merit partnership status. Justify their status with specific reasons.
