answer 2 separate case analysis 5 7 pages for each analysis

Goals, Emotions, Disorders, & Change – “Where am I going?”

1. This assignment involves a “self-analysis” of your “personality” as it relates to the material we covered in this section of the course (Chapters 15, 16, and 17). In particular, how do the theories and research in this section of the course apply to your own* personal strives or goals?

Answer this question by addressing each of the following:

What would you say is your major (most important, influential) current life task, goal, or personal striving?

Describe this goal/life task in some detail and indicate where you might have come up with such a goal/life task.

Then illustrate what past theory and research have to say about how your goal/life task is likely to influence your current behavior and personality. Choose at least two major research approaches for this part and link their findings to your own particular case.

Finally, speculate about how the various approaches to personality therapy might help you in accomplishing your goal/life task. Along the way, each perspective has had a theory about where personality comes from and an associated method that would help address some type of disorder (e.g., Trait–personality traits are inherited and cannot be changed–the only therapy that would work would be medicine to change your personality, or to get out of the irritating situation that is elevating the unwanted personality trait).

Choose two major therapy approaches and speculate about how those approaches might aid you in moving more successfully toward your goal or accomplishing your life task. What would you need to do, according to these approaches, in order to be successful in your personal strivings?

In answering these questions, be sure to provide a description of your own personal goals/life tasks and apply the theories and research to these.

Examples must be provided throughout your Case Analysis. The number of examples of behavior provided is not as important as their relatedness to the topic, but the student needs to keep in mind the page requirement, despite the quantity of examples. All examples must be related to the questions that are presented in the Case.

Must be typed and double-spaced (preferably in Word, .txt, or .rtf format), with the number of pages ranging from 5 (minimum) to 7 (maximum).

2. The Freudian Unconscious – “Who am I?”

This assignment involves a “self-analysis” of your personality as it relates to the material we covered in this section of the course (Chapters 10 and 11). In particular, how do the theories and research in this section of the course apply to your own* personality? Answer this question by addressing the following:

Using the Freudian approach to the unconscious we talked about, apply this approach to yourself. What evidence do you have (from your own personal experience) that supports (or is consistent with) the Freudian view of the unconscious? That is, describe instances where you have been (or may have been) influenced by unconscious factors and show how these are related (or unrelated) to the Freudian view of the unconscious we talked about.

In answering these questions, be sure to provide a description of your own personality and apply the theories and research to your “personality.”

Examples must be provided throughout your Case Analysis. The number of examples of behavior provided is not as important as their relatedness to the topic, but the student needs to keep in mind the page requirement, despite the quantity of examples.
